Our lab focuses on experimental investigation of biomaterials to enable the biotechnological design of such materials to fulfill specific functions.Special attention is paid to the structural characterization of these materials across all levels (nano-meso-macro), which is essential in order to understand and control their fundamental structure-function relationships. This research is multidisciplinary in nature as it involves chemistry, material science and bioengineering.A variety of techniques, such as Small Angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), light scattering (dynamic and static)  electron microscopy (in the transmission (TEM) and scanning modes (SEM)),rheology, mechanical testing and optical tensiometryare utilized by my group for structural and functional characterization.
