My group carries experimental studies of the phase behavior and properties of liquid and solid matter with special emphasis on self-organizing molecules and nanostructures. We are interested inexpressions of synergetic behavior and non-additivity.
Our studies are motivated by fundamental questions, while we are highly aware of the challenges posed by technological needs and peruse technologically relevant directions. We carry interdisciplinary research based on collaborations with other experimental groups as well as theoreticians.
We utilize a variety of techniques, including light microscopy (diffraction and interference), electron microscopy (in the transmission (TEM, cryo-TEM) and scanning modes (SEM)), ellipsometry, Scanning Probe Microscopy (IKC), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), and Small Angle X-ray scattering (SAXS).
